Diary of a marketing intern at SugarBox Networks

It all started in February 2021. My journey as an intern in the marketing department of SugarBox Networks, turned out to be a lot more than I thought it would be, in the best way possible. I’ve transitioned from being a student to a recent graduate in Business Administration, all while interning with SugarBox. For somebody like me, who is extremely passionate about anything and everything that relates to social impact, SugarBox ticked all the boxes on my bucket list.

In the beginning, as a Business graduate, I was a little hesitant to put my foot into a “tech-focused” territory. However, while working with SugarBox and being mentored by some of the best in the industry, I’ve learned to appreciate technology in our everyday life’s. It was a revelation to see what technology brings to each of our tables every day and how truly disruptive it can be, in a world like ours (disruptively innovative).

SugarBox is a unique and “one-of-its-kind” brand and working on the marketing side of such an organization has definitely been challenging and enthralling – both at the same time. Throughout all the projects I’ve undertaken, from customer retention strategy to digital marketing and everything in between, I’ve learnt and continued to learn so much, not just about marketing but all about technology. During my internship, I got opportunities to work on innumerable marketing projects, such as – market research, digital marketing, marketing communications, assisting with on-site projects, and lots more. Collaborating with various stakeholders, literally the best of minds, was definitely a bonus and a large chunk of my learnings came from there.

This internship will always be a feather in my cap, for years to come. Not because of the various projects and responsibilities, but owe I it to the wonderful minds who mentored me, throughout this journey. Largely, the credit for enhancing my skills and learnings is dedicated to Durgesh Ubare. He was actively involved in equipping me with tools to advance my marketing skills in a tech-focused environment and consistently taught me on how to navigate through the corporate life and in general with the necessary ‘life skills’, as one may call it.

My mentoring plan also included ex-Brand Head of SugarBox Networks, Rupsa Sinha, who efficiently guided me, supported me and provided me with an opportunity to assist various on-site and digital projects. Last but not the least, I was given the opportunity to also work with the immensely experienced Marketing Communications Head – Pooja Trehan. She has been my go-to person when it came to any internal or external communication campaigns.

What truly kept me engaged was the feeling of belonging to something bigger, than just doing the day-to-day tasks or projects assigned to me. A sense that I am a part of something bigger, that I could contribute towards solving a real problem, something that is truly going to transform and touch the lives of real people, in the long run – is what kept me going. My journey here has been nothing less than a rollercoaster ride, with all the ups, the downs, and the in-betweens, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
